I have never been a fan of tofu. The taste used to gross me out and I refused to eat it. I had it in a dish at a south eastern asian restaurant a week ago and loved it. I decided to try to make my own and it was amazing. I winged the ingredients and everything worked out so good. My little brothers were digging into it as well. You only need 5 ingredients to make this.
Prep Time: 35 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 45 minutes
- 1 package of extra firm tofu
- 1 tablespoon of sriracha
- 1 tablespoon of sesame oil (or oil of choice)
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- 3 tablespoons of liquid aminos (or soy sauce)
I started off by slicing my tofu and wrapping it in a towel. I placed a heavy object on top to drain the liquid from the tofu. I let it sit for fifteen minutes and then cubed my tofu.
I placed the tofu into a bowl with the sriracha, honey and liquid aminos. I used my hand to mix the ingredients into the tofu so it could marinate. I allowed it to sit for 15 minutes to absorb the flavor.
I heated my sesame oil on high heat until bubbling and added my tofu in. I cooked until brown and a little bit crisp. Half way through cooking, I added some liquid aminos just to flavor a little bit more. I kept stirring the tofu throughout cooking so it would cook evenly.
In another pan I cooked some broccoli and snap peas with sesame oil and liquid aminos. I also cooked some rice. I put it all in a bowl and it was so delicious! Tag me on instagram @allofmaeo if you decide to make this.
